Claude for Financial Advisors: plugin, skills, limits
Claude for Financial Advisors adds connectors and eight skills for meeting prep and follow-up in Cowork. What it does, who gets it, where it stops.
Claude for Financial Advisors is a plugin for Claude Cowork that connects Claude to the systems an advisory firm already uses and adds eight skills for meeting prep, follow-up and review work. Anthropic announced it on September 14, 2026 and updated the post on October 27, 2026 to add connectors. Anthropic recommends Enterprise plans for registered investment advisers. Below: what it does, how to start, and where it stops.
This site is independent and not affiliated with Anthropic. We read Anthropic's announcement on 2026-10-31. We did not install or run the plugin, so nothing below is a hands-on result.
What the plugin connects to
Anthropic opens the announcement with its pitch: "Financial advisors can now connect Claude to the custodians, portfolio platforms, CRMs, and planning tools they depend on, along with new skills tailored to the daily work of a financial advisor."
The connectors it names include Addepar, BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Envestnet, FactSet, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Vanguard and Wealthbox. If connectors are new to you, Claude connectors explains how Claude reaches data that lives in another tool.
Anthropic frames the problem with one figure: "A typical advisory practice spends only a sixth of its time in client meetings, according to Kitces research." The plugin is aimed at the work around the meeting, not the meeting itself.
The eight skills
Anthropic lists eight skills. Where we quote, the words are Anthropic's. Where we do not, we summarize.
- Advisor onboarding: connects your firm's tools and runs a first meeting prep.
- Alternative investments brief: summarizes a household's alternative investments alongside the portfolio.
- Compliance and AI policy: "highlights content that may warrant additional compliance review based on user-configured criteria".
- Estate and tax brief: checks a client's estate plan against account titling and beneficiaries, looks back at the prior year's taxes, and can create CRM follow-up tasks.
- Portfolio rebalance review: "flags drift and concentrated positions against a client's target allocation".
- Post-meeting notes and follow-up: turns a transcript into "a client summary, a recap email, and CRM tasks in one pass".
- Pre-meeting prep: pulls information from connected systems "into a single brief for the advisor to review".
- Prospect intake: organizes what a prospect shares into a summary, an analyst handoff and a what-to-expect memo.
Pre-meeting prep and post-meeting notes sit on either side of a client meeting. Because the plugin ships as skills, Claude Skills is the right background if you want to know what a skill is.
Who gets it, and what it costs
Anthropic's availability note is short: "We recommend Enterprise plans for registered investment advisers, because it includes the audit logs that support recordkeeping." If you already have an Enterprise license, you open Cowork, find Claude for Financial Advisors in the plugin browser, and follow the guided setup to connect your tools.
For prices, see Claude pricing and Anthropic's pricing page, and ask Anthropic about Enterprise terms.
One detail to check. The announcement says: "Firms that request a new license before the end of September 2026 will also receive a one-time usage credit". That deadline has passed as of 2026-10-31, so ask Anthropic whether the credit still applies before you plan around it.

Your first hour with it
This plan is our reading of the announcement, not a tested procedure. The first two steps follow Anthropic's availability note: license, then install. The last two are our advice.
Confirm your license
Ask whoever manages your Claude account whether you have Enterprise. Anthropic ties its recommendation to the audit logs.
Install and connect one system
In Cowork, open the plugin browser, find the plugin and follow the guided setup. Start with a single connector, not all of them.
Run pre-meeting prep on a real meeting
Pick a client meeting already on your calendar this week. Compare the brief with your own notes before you rely on it.
Run post-meeting notes on one transcript
Use a transcript your firm allows you to process. Read the summary, the recap email and each CRM task before anything is sent or saved.
A brief is only as good as the check you give it. Our advice, not Anthropic's:
- Spot-check every figure in a brief against the source system, such as the custodian or portfolio platform.
- Read the recap email as if a client wrote back: is every statement something you actually said?
- Open each CRM task and confirm it names the right household and the right owner.
- Keep a short log of what the skill got wrong in the first two weeks, so you know where to look.
Where this stops
Read these limits before you plan a workflow around the plugin.
- It is Anthropic describing its own product. The announcement is a vendor post, not an independent review. We have no timing, accuracy or quality result to give you.
- A person stays responsible. Anthropic says: "Investment recommendations, client communications, compliance determinations, and other regulated activities remain subject to human review and approval." It also says Claude "stages administrative actions like CRM updates or draft client communications for the advisor's review and approval."
- The compliance skill flags, it does not decide. Anthropic describes content that "may warrant additional compliance review", based on criteria you configure. Your compliance officer owns the decision.
- The plan is narrow. The announcement names Enterprise as the recommended plan. The text we read says nothing about Free, Pro, Max or Team.
- We did not check what the audit logs contain. Anthropic cites them for recordkeeping. Ask what they capture before you rely on them for a regulatory obligation.
- Client data is sensitive. Decide which connectors Claude may reach and which households it may touch before anyone connects a custodian account.

Is Claude for Financial Advisors free?
The cost depends on your plan: Anthropic recommends Enterprise plans for registered investment advisers. Check Claude pricing for plan listings and ask Anthropic for Enterprise terms before you commit.
Which plan does Claude for Financial Advisors need?
Anthropic recommends Enterprise plans for registered investment advisers because they include audit logs that support recordkeeping. If you already have an Enterprise license, open Cowork and find the plugin in the plugin browser. The announcement names no other plan.
Does Claude for Financial Advisors give investment advice?
No. Anthropic says investment recommendations, client communications, compliance determinations and other regulated activities remain subject to human review and approval. Claude prepares briefs, summaries and draft analyses, and the advisor decides what goes to a client.
