Claude for Nonprofits plugin: skills, discount, how to start
The Claude for Nonprofits plugin adds grant, hiring and board skills on Team and Enterprise plans, at no extra cost. What it does and where it stops.
The Claude for Nonprofits plugin is a set of skills and connectors for fundraising, hiring, marketing and board work. Anthropic announced it on October 26, 2026. Verified nonprofits on the Team and Enterprise plans get it installed automatically, with no extra charge. Below: what it does, who qualifies, and where it stops.
This site is independent and not affiliated with Anthropic. We read Anthropic's announcement on 2026-10-30. We did not install or run the plugin, so nothing below is a hands-on result.
What the plugin does
Anthropic says the plugin is "a set of skills and connectors built with ~30 nonprofits." The announcement groups the skills under three headings. Here is what each one lists, in Anthropic's words.
Extend your team covers three jobs:
- "Marketing: plan a campaign sized to your team's bandwidth, teach Claude to draft in your organization's voice, and get a second read on your content before it goes out."
- "Hiring and people: build a job post with an interview guide and scoring rubric, plan a new hire's first 90 days, and answer staff questions from your own handbook."
- "Board and leadership: see what skills your board is missing, draft outreach to the candidates you have in mind, get new members up to speed with an orientation packet, and plan the deck for your next meeting."
Set up Claude responsibly is the group to read first, because the other skills build on its map:
- Map your organization. "Claude asks where you keep each kind of record, like donor data, grant files, finances and policies, and, with memory on, saves that map for each person."
- Check what your AI policy allows. "Staff can ask "Can I use Claude for this?" and get the answer based on your organization's own AI policy."
- "Admins manage who has access and which connectors your organization can use."
Fund your mission covers grants, RFPs and donors:
- "Find the right funders and grants. Research donors, foundations, companies, and surface open grants, with sources cited."
- Decide what to pursue. "Forward an RFP and get a breakdown on eligibility, requirements, and what it would take to compete."
- Write proposals and reports. "Turn an RFP into a requirements list and a first draft built from your own material."
- Keep relationships warm. "Get a brief before a funder call, a write-up and thank-you note after, and donor updates in your voice."

Who gets it, and what changed on price
Anthropic states the eligibility in one sentence: "The Claude for Nonprofits plugin is installed automatically for nonprofits on Team and Enterprise plans, at no additional cost." The plugin adds nothing to your bill. Check Claude pricing for what Team and Enterprise cost without a discount.
The announcement also changes the plans themselves. Anthropic writes:
We expanded nonprofit plans to the same models as our standard Team and Enterprise plans, lowered the Team plan minimum to orgs with as few as two people.
It adds a new discount for one group of nonprofits:
We launched a new discount of ~90% for verified nonprofits in low- and middle-income countries, bringing standard Team seats to $3/user/month.
That is separate from the earlier program. Anthropic says it launched Claude for Nonprofits last December "with discounts of up to 75%, connectors for Blackbaud, Candid, and Benevity, and a free AI Fluency course built with GivingTuesday." It also says "More than 25,000 nonprofits now use Claude in their work." That count is Anthropic's own figure, and we cannot check it.
Your first hour with it
Anthropic's advice for starting is short: "To begin, ask Claude to map where your organization keeps its information, since the other skills build on that map." The plan below follows that order. It is our reading of the announcement, not a tested procedure.
Confirm your plan and verification
The plugin is for verified nonprofits on Team or Enterprise. Ask whoever owns billing which plan you are on.
Map where your information lives
Name where donor data, grant files, finances and policies are kept. The other skills build on this map.
Ask one policy question
Ask whether Claude may be used for a task you have in mind. The answer comes from your own AI policy, so write one first if you have none.
Try one funding job
Forward a real RFP and read the eligibility breakdown before you decide to apply.
The order matters because the map is the base. A grant breakdown built on a vague idea of your files will be vaguer than one built on a clear map.
Where this stops
Read these limits before you plan a workflow around the plugin.
- It is Anthropic describing its own product. The announcement is a vendor post, not an independent review. We have no result, timing or quality score to give you.
- The plans are narrow. The announcement names Team and Enterprise. It says nothing in the text we read about nonprofits on the Free, Pro or Max plans.
- We did not see how verification works. The text we read says "verified nonprofits" without describing the process, so ask Anthropic or your plan admin.
- A grant draft is a draft. The announcement promises open grants "with sources cited" and "a first draft built from your own material." Our advice, not Anthropic's: open every cited source, and have a person who knows your funders read every proposal before it goes out.
- Donor records are sensitive. Decide what data the mapping step may touch, and who on staff can see it, before anyone connects a donor database.
If you run a business rather than a nonprofit, Claude for small business covers a similar plugin. For the basics of skills, start with Claude Skills. Claude for Legal covers another field where outputs are drafts for attorney review.
Is the Claude for Nonprofits plugin free?
The plugin adds no cost: Anthropic says it is installed automatically on Team and Enterprise plans "at no additional cost."
Who can use the Claude for Nonprofits plugin?
Verified nonprofits on Team and Enterprise plans. Anthropic's announcement names no other plan. The text we read does not explain how verification works, so ask your plan admin or Anthropic before you assume your organization qualifies.
Can a two-person nonprofit use the Team plan?
Anthropic says it lowered the Team plan minimum to "orgs with as few as two people" as part of expanding its nonprofit plans. The announcement does not say whether the lower minimum applies to organizations that are not verified nonprofits, so confirm with your plan admin before you count on it.
