What Claude marketing skills should I install first?

Install few Claude marketing skills for weekly jobs: positioning, brand voice, campaign plan. Skip day-one bloat; graduate stable prompts into skills.

Install few Claude marketing skills tied to jobs you already repeat weekly, not a 40-skill "team pack" on day one. Start with categories that have stable inputs (audience, offer, proof, voice examples). Keep prompts in a Project until the loop stops changing, then graduate winners into skills. Map the rest of marketing work from Claude for marketing; prompt specs live in Claude prompts for marketing. A full catalog spoke is Claude marketing skills (planned). This page is install-order only.

TL;DR. Pick 3–5 job slots (positioning/brief, brand voice, campaign plan, channel pack, QA/claims). Install marketplace/plugin skills only when names match those jobs today. Otherwise stay on prompts + Projects. Skip skill bloat until the workflow is stable.

Criteria: what earns an "install first" slot

Use this bar before you add anything:

CriterionPass when…
Repeat weeklyYou run the job ≥1×/week (brief, voice rewrite, campaign skeleton)
Has inputsYou can load real ICP notes, brand examples, proof (not blank chat)
QA barYou know what "good" means (no invented metrics, one CTA, on-brand)
Stable loopThe prompt/spec barely changes between runs

Fail any row → keep it as a prompt in Claude prompts for marketing, not a skill yet. For the Projects-first loop that feeds those prompts, see How to use Claude for marketing.

Starter set (3–5 job slots)

These are categories, not a scraped marketplace directory. Marketplace skill names change; verify on the official marketplace / plugin browser the day you install. Do not treat the labels below as product SKUs.

  1. Positioning / brief: messy notes → one-pager or campaign brief. Highest leverage if positioning is still fuzzy.
  2. Brand voice: rewrite drafts against guidelines + 2–3 example assets. Useful once you have samples loaded in a Project.
  3. Campaign plan skeleton: objective · audience · pillars · CTA · channels · risks. Not full ad sets or media buys.
  4. Channel pack (optional): one repeated channel job only (e.g. social repurpose or email outline). Add only if that channel is weekly.
  5. Claims / QA gate (optional): strip invented proof, force "source or drop." Add when drafts keep hallucinating metrics.

Install order: (1) → (2) → (3), then at most one of (4)/(5). Cap day-one installs at three.

Install path (high-level)

Skills reach Claude through several paths (personal ~/.claude/skills/, project .claude/skills/, plugins/marketplace, claude.ai sync). For marketing teams:

  1. Prefer a Project with brand docs + the prompt pack first (Claude Projects).
  2. When a job is stable, either author a thin SKILL.md for that job or install a matching plugin/marketplace skill after you confirm the name and description same-day.
  3. In Claude Code, use /plugin browse/install (or documented /plugin install …@… forms). Don't trust third-party "top 50 marketing skills" lists as product truth.
  4. Prune with /skill-doctor (Claude Code v2.1.252+ per official skills docs) when the skill listing gets heavy: unused skills still cost context.

This page will not list unverified skill titles. The deeper inventory belongs on Claude marketing skills (planned). For packaging patterns later, see Claude Skills and Create a Claude Code skill.

When not to install yet

  • Day zero with no brand inputs: skills won't invent a positioning doc you refuse to write.
  • One-off spikes: chat + a pasteable prompt is enough; skills earn their keep through repetition.
  • "Install everything marketing" packs: every skill description competes for listing budget; bloat makes the right skill less likely to trigger.
  • Jobs you don't own yet: SEO systems, paid media bids, legal claims review stay out of the first three slots. See the map: Claude for marketing.

Default stack for week one: Projects + prompts. Skills after the loop is boring (in a good way).

Field note, tested against marketing Projects + prompts workflows in September 2026: install order holds when each skill maps to a named weekly job with real inputs. Verify install surfaces on code.claude.com/docs/en/skills and claude.com (Checked 2026-09-12).

FAQ

What's the best Claude marketing skill to install first?

The one that matches your highest-frequency job with real inputs, usually positioning/brief or brand voice. There is no universal #1 marketplace name that stays true forever.

Should I install skills before writing prompts?

Usually no. Stabilize the prompt/spec, then graduate. See Claude prompts for marketing.

Where's the full list of marketing skills?

Claude marketing skills (planned). This URL owns install order + criteria, not a catalog.

Can skills replace a brand Project?

No. Skills load instructions when relevant; they don't replace loading guidelines, examples, and proof into a Project.

How many skills is too many on day one?

If you can't name the weekly job each skill serves, you've overshot. Start ≤3.
