Claude for Education is the actual student path, and it's not something you sign up for yourself. Anthropic sells it to universities as an institution-wide license. If your school buys in, students, faculty, and staff get access through single sign-on, not by typing a personal .edu email into a form.
Per Anthropic's FAQ on Claude for Education, a school's plan can include a bigger context window (up to 500k tokens on certain models), advanced models, Projects, higher usage limits, and priority access. If your school isn't on that list, a personal .edu email alone gets you nothing extra. Access depends entirely on whether your university has signed an agreement. That's a decision made by IT or procurement, not something an individual student can trigger.

Per its own support article on coupons, these apply only to users who've never held a paid plan. They don't work through App Store subscriptions on iOS or Android, either.
The honest limit here
Claude for Education is paid for by participating institutions rather than individual students. Anthropic doesn't publish a complete self-check directory, so the reliable way to know whether you have access is to ask your school directly. If nobody on campus has looked into it, you may be the one who has to raise it with IT.
The Claude Campus program is real too, but it's a competitive, limited-cohort program with a closed application window as of this writing, not a standing benefit.
